Going No Poo

Still experimenting, some days look better than others, this is a bad day. It also may be a bit wet..
Hey everyone!

For the past.. I dont' even know, I have been experimenting with No 'Poo. And no I don't mean poo, I mean shampoo. I don't use shampoo.

So I never liked my hair, in fact I hated it. My hair hair been through it all, from years of lice, to being fluffy, curly and unmanageably knot. I just had enough, I even thought about shaving it off (when I had lice). The one thing I liked about it is that I didn't have to wash it frequently, weekly to monthly.. Basically when I felt like it. So when I heard about no 'poo and all it great reviews I decided to give it a go!

The only method I knew back then was the baking soda and apple cider vinegar method, now if you have curly or dry hair don't even read about it because it's not the method for you! I didn't know that then so I tried it, my hair was still dry but I didn't really care. After wearing my hair up for a few hours my scalp would ache so much that I had to wear it down, but during summer this wasn't a option so I went through a fare bit of pain. During this time I hardly washed my hair and I never researched into it more.

About 2 months ago I found a pH balanced shampoo recipe (only use if you have dry hair) and I started using the shampoo by itself (no apple cider vinegar rinse) and for the first time ever my hair was oily, it was annoying but still kind of cool because I have never experienced it. Some might call this the 'detox' period but I really think if I used the apple cider vinegar rinse suggested to start of with then I wouldn't of had oily hair (but wheres the fun in that!?).

Now after over a year (I'm pretty sure..) of bad hair experiences, oh wait that was of whole life..., I can officially say I love my hair! And yes after using the baking soda on my poor scalp I have been left with dandruff (Ahhh it sucks!), but after a while of using my 'shampoo' it should go away/get better.

I definitely don't wake up with perfect hair but I can't believe how long people take to do theres. How I do my hair of a morning (or afternoon): 1. brush 2. wet 3. fluff around 4. style or leave as is. The end, I'm done.

Let me know your thoughts on this, does it sound cool or gross? If you would like more information no this topic don't worry I will post more about it, but in the mean time go join the No Poo Facebook group and if you don't have Facebook ask a family member if you can check it out on their account :)

Byeee! Ruby xx

  1. I definitely know what you mean about getting annoyed with your hair! My solutions was to cut it all off.
It's the best style decision I've ever made, especially for my summer in Europe (It can get pretty HOT!!)

I'm so glad this worked for you :)
