My Crocheting Journey

Hello everything!
If you know me you will know I love crocheting, it's a main hobby of mine. And if you are new or just want to know a bit more about my journey crocheting then this post is perfect, because that's what it's all about!

Discovering about crochet
I first found crocheting through blogging, I had just learn't knitting and found someone doing an awesome crochet project. I thought why not give it a go, nothing to loose. I used YouTube to try and teach me, and that did not work out well, so a gave up. A few months (or weeks?) later a saw more posts on crocheting and was determined to learn how to do it, also it looked easier than knitting, I then resorted to YouTube again, because I personally don't know anyone who can crochet. After some days of practise I finally taught myself the basics! Yay!

US and UK confusion
After teaching myself and feeling confident about my crocheting I braved up and followed a Blythe beanie pattern. The only thing I didn't know was the US and UK have different stitch names... It was way to confusing for a beginner like me. I, although confused, finished the beanie by guessing, and it worked!
Making Blythe beanies
After my first attempt at making a Blythe Beanie I really wanted to make a more aesthetically pleasing beanie for my Blythes. After a while of trying, I finally came up with a beanie that would fit them and looks good. I went ahead and made a few (okay, a lot) of beanies in different colours with different decorations and things.

Starting a shop
When I would show my family and mums friends my beanies they all said I should start a shop and sell them, I didn't think I really wanted to do that. But after a while a gave in and started an Etsy Store called Buttercups Are Yellow, my mum came up with the name, then a worked hard to make products and add them on my store and but never sold anything :(
Building up Skill
Learning crochet patterns and basic crochet skills for sometime really helped build my crocheting skill. I can now just by thinking how it will look, try to create patterns myself, this has worked many times like with my bunting, strawberries, watermelon and hopefully more soon.

Crocheting Bunting
A few Christmas' ago I image searched 'Crochet Christmas' (Or something like that) and came across this photo of a crochet triangle turned into a Christmas tree, I tried it by using the photo as a guide and no actual pattern, which worked perfectly. Mum recommended making it bigger and without stripes, so I did, I also accidentally changed the 'pattern' making it look more like a tree and somehow I did it differently, although up until last November I didn't know how I did it.
After a while of just crocheting things here and there, I came up with this cool idea to make crochet bunting using the original tree pattern, I love bunting so much and this was (and still is) such a awesome idea.
Expanding to Other Projects
I love trying new projects, and currently I am working on something really different to what I usually do. I also have a few ideas of projects I would like to work on next and I can't wait start them and show you the finished product of what I am working on now.

I love how creative I can be with crocheting and I love finding new crochet techniques to use on future projects! I hope this wasn't to boring, I have been working on this post for quite some time so I'm glad I finally got it published!

Have you crocheted before? Did you enjoy it? Let me know your thoughts on crochet, I would love to know :)
