Room for Ruby • Organising Shelves

Hello Lovlies!

In my room I have 3 Expedits, I know right.. Crazy!, two of them are two by four and the other two by two, and they are the only shelves I have in my room and I like them to be neat. So today is (obviously) another Room for Ruby post, and I am going to be showing you how I organised two shelves on one and the top of the other as they were quite messy. So I'm going to walk you through how I organised them as neatly as possible.. Well as neat as I could get them :)

This is my before shot. Ah embarrassing much.... I thought I should show you the before photo, as it would be pointless to show you how I (re-)organised them without showing why I did it.

The first thing I did was remove everything from the shelves to dust the shelves, see what I had to put back and planned how I would organise them in my head. As you can see I managed to store a lot of stuff in two cubes.

I really liked how the books were set up so I decided to keep that but this time I moved them from the left cube to the right. Now I can see them better and reach them easily.

Next, I found these jars at an op-shop a few weeks ago and just had to have them (how cute are they?) and they now store bits and bobs, little 'Gum packet' greeting cards and some cute miniature pegs and normal sized pegs.

I added these to the cube with books and they fit perfectly there.

I then added some bits and pieces (which I actually have a lot of but I had to restrain myself or it would be overwhelmingly full...again).

On the left cube I added some little things that really had nowhere else to go, such as a movie, letter kits, Blythe books and a pencil case full of samples and vouchers from the Easter Show.

I finished it with a mirror, a cute vintage thingy that I use to hold my Buttercup Store Business cards, coin purses and wallet, a mini speaker and a stuffed flamingo, you know all the essential things you would have on a book shelf.

And here are the finished organised shelves! I love the way they turned out, I'm SO happy with myself for doing it!

I am now moving onto the 2x2 expedit. I like to put things here when I first walk in, as its right next to my door but as you can see its become a bit crowded and looks super ugly.

So I took everything off and put it on my bed like the first time. I then sorted through it all and took everything that did not belong in my room out.

Ah now I will just leave it like that, hehe, not really it would probably annoy me having that wasted space.

When I was organising the shelves I planned to move my Mollie Makes Magazines here and I think they look really nice :)

I added my sunnies from my Beauty Expedit (see here) so I could easily grab them before I leave. I also put my Blythe wallet (so if I want to change bags I can grab that essential) and my leopard print purse because it looks pretty there :D

As you may know I love flamingoes, so I added one on top of a homemade potholder to add something cute (gotta have something cute.. everywhere). He also added a nice finishing touch to it, don't you think?

And that is the end of this post! I hope you found this somewhat helpful and maybe got some ideas for organising shelves in your room. I actually enjoyed cleaning my shelves and really want to maintain the prettiness of them. I'm also really happy to have more clean parts of my room! Next I want to organise my desk, I now have to think up some ideas, if you have any ideas be sure to leave them in the comments below!
