I have something to say

Hello world!
It's been a while, or at least it feels like its been ages since I last wrote here. But the reason for the absence is because I've been thinking a lot. I've been thinking about how I spend my time and what I actually enjoying doing. This blog fell into the category things I don't enjoy doing.

Sure I like writing on here sometimes and maybe I will every now and then (although they may be private) but I think that is because I let out my thoughts. I don't go back and check my writing 'like you're supposed to do' because I finally got it out of my head and I don't want to think about it anymore. I don't even know if I want people to read my thoughts, especially people I know, I think its kind of weird.

Maybe in the future I will create an anonymous online journal to write my thoughts, but you will probably never know, unless you guess its me... I will congratulate you on that day!

What I'm trying to get at is, I don't enjoying blogging here and I think I haven't for a very long time so I am leaving this blog. It will remain open for you all to read, unless I change my mind later on. I am on Instagram @itsrubydean and flickr under 'It's me, Ruby' both of which I am testing out as new platforms for sharing my stuff.

I have been blogging for over 3 years and I don't regret starting it. I have learnt SO many new things from blogging (more than I can probably remember) and I'm so thankful for that but I don't think I will grow anymore on here.

After all these years of writing and reading blogs I do neither now. I have stopped reading blogs because they don't interest me like they used to. It definitely feels weird going on my computer and not doing either of those.

Okay I have officially run out of things to say so I'm going to go now. Thank you to everyone who has read even one post of mine! I will be lingering in the comments if you wish to say anything there.

See you somewhere,
Ruby xx

P.S. My domain has nearly expired and will go to rubydeanblog.blogspot.com.au when it does (date unknown).

The Self Discovery Project • Conclusion

Why hello, haven't seen you in a while?

The Self Discovery Project • Day 5

Monday 15th

Helllloooo again!
I was supposed to write this Tuesday and post it Tuesday afternoon but as you can tell it didn't happen. Then I wanted to write and post it yesterday but that also didn't happen..

The first thing I did (other than write a to-do list, eat, get ready, etc.) was my school work, like every other weekday. After I did some of it I went searching for a new recipe to bake and I found an amazing brownie recipe (so unhealthy though).

The reason why I baked on a Monday was not because it was Monday and we need baked goods to get us through the week, but because we volunteer at a nursing home on a Monday and I bring baked goods (these Anzac biscuits are the biggest hit so far). This is practically the only time I bake so I had to make 2 one for the nursing home and one for us (ours had choc chips), even though they don't eat much at the nursing home.

When the first one was baking and I still hadn't decided to bake another I finished reading my current book, Matilda, don't worry it was good, Roald Dahl was an amazing writer. Then I cleaned it up and started again. While that was baking I started a new book, Better Off Friends. Then we had to go to the nursing home. This week I started joining knitted squares they made, so eventually it will make a blanket.

When I got home I decided to read some more of my book. After that I was sucked in. I stayed up until 12 finishing that book. And I actually did! I finished 2 books in 1 day and finished a book in one day for the first time! Also, just to let you know, its not a big book, I can't read that fast.

Well I should get to work now, my English text book won't write itself.
Ruby xx
P.S. I only took 1 photo and it was a crappy one of the brownie that I sent to my mum so I thought I just won't post any, although I could take one of the slice now and put it in. Thats not cheating is it?

The Self-Discovery Project

Recently I have felt really really weird (which is a quite regular thing for me) and I read this article about getting out of a rut and the reason why you feel like that. This is my explanation on that.

The reason you get in a rut is because your overloaded by ideas and thoughts that aren't yours, you get confused by all the options and don't know what to do, so you do nothing. You're trapped inside other peoples ideas and can't get yours out. You are simply not being you. Even if you think that is you, your brain is saying otherwise.

Late Night Shopping

Hey!
So in English I had to write a description of a scene and I had know idea what to describe because it gave examples of sports and concerts with I have never been to. In the end I decided to describe late-night shopping. Every Thursday at our local shopping centre its open until ten for late night shopping and its crazy so I wrote about that. I am pretty proud of it and thought I would share it here, not just for others to read but also so I can look back on it one day which I think would be cool.

My Crochet Lampshade - 2015 Project

It's been a while since I've wrote to you and I have a lot of things to tell you, but first things first my crochet lampshade. Last year I was assigned a major work (by mum) to crochet a lampshade but not just a basic lampshade, a lampshade made of crochet bits and bobs stitched together -I can't explain it any other way.

At the start of the year mum asked me to make and finish a lampshade by the end of term 2. That didn't happen and I actually (completely) finished it in the first week of January (2016). There are many reasons why I didn't finish it earlier; I'm lazy, I didn't know what I wanted to do, how I wanted it to look or how I was going to do it. Even though I finished it way way way too late I still absolutely love it!

How I'm Starting The Year Right

Hey!
Since its still very early in the year I want to share with you ways that I'm going to make my year better starting now! I was never the one to do New Years Resolutions (I was only 14 give me a break) and last year I picked bad ones and didn't even put them somewhere I would look at them. This year is going to be different. I have picked very do-able resolutions that are going to work and I'm excited!

First, my 2016 Resolutions:

My 2015

Hi!
Happy New Year!
Today I decided I want to look back on my year completely to see what exactly I did. There is no better place for me to share it then here because a diary simply will not do it for me.

My Blythe 2015 Christmas Stop Motion

Hey everyone!
So I did say I was making a Blythe Christmas stop motion but I didn't finish it before Christmas which is what I wanted. The reason for this is because I bought I new doll at the start December and I wanted her in the video but she came on Christmas Eve and I didn't have time to do it then. Also for Christmas I got a new tripod which is as tall as me so I can take better photos in there lounge room (which is about shoulder height). Well now thats done, here it is(!):

It took a while but I love how it turned out!
Hopefully next year I can do it again and see how much I have improved!
This is my Blythe family with 1 exception, Vamprierna is my mums doll (hence the name). But I wanted to put her in here because she is in the same house and should be included. Also its more even :P
While your here, meet Jessie (aka Mod Molly) my newest girl, the only of 2015 and my first SBL (I'm super excited about that!), she will have a seperate post all about her but I wanted to talk about her this year too :D

I was supposed to post this a few days ago when it wasn't so close to the new year but I did other stuff.. Oops!

I won't be posting anymore posts this year so I would like to wish you a Very Happy New Year!! I hope you celebrate well, I don't think we will be doing anything fancy this year but you never know.

Happy New Year!
See you next year,
Ruby xx

Bells New Dress

Hello again!
Here is my Blythe stop motion movie I talked about in my last post! I'm quite happy with it but one thing that I have to work on is the lighting, the best I get is during the day but that changes a lot so the videos lighting changes a lot more than I would like it too. Anyway, I hope you like it, it was hard to make because its my first blythe stop motion in a while :)

I would like to make a stop motion video next year using play-doh or clay I think it would be really fun. Also I highly recommend checking out this video about the SpongeBob Stop Motion Christmas special, its really cool!

And I am working on a Christmas one too. Its going pretty good so far, I got the first 2 scenes done and have to do some more so get ready for that next week sometime (hopefully!!)

Well until next time,
Ruby xx

Our Trip to Canberra

Hey!
Its finally here, yay! This is the video I told you about in my last post, the one I made while in Canberra sight seeing. I really wanted to video it so I could look but and see what we did those few days and remember. But this is my first proper 'travel' video so I'm still learning how to do it un-awkardly and not move so much, I'm still really happy with it and I like that I can look back to see how bad I was one day :)

I had heaps of fun there (minus the sore feet and legs) and can't wait to go back another day and visit the places we missed.

I'm not making this offical or anything, but I would like to make a Blythe Christmas video because I'm really into videos at the moment and I think it would be fun! Before I do that though, I will be sharing a non-christmasy Blythe video because I made it before going to Canberra and really want to share it before next year (OMG too close). Also I have a bit more school stuff to finish up (ahhh) before I can start making it so thats why I might not make it soon.

Thanks for watching,
Ruby xx

Judge

Hello!
I have been gone for a while because mum and I went on a trip to Canberra for a week and I filmed it and wanted to put the video up before I posted anything else, and editing the video wasn't top of the list. But as you can see that didn't happen because this is not that video, this is about something more.. how do a say this.. more serious? more wrong? more rude? anyway you'll find out. Today I want to talk about judging people

No 'Poo • What I use

Hey everyone
Since my last no poo post I have changed what I use and I love love love it! My hair is looking great, doesn't get super knotty and is soft, they are my top 3 hair wants. So today I'm going to explain what I use, why it works for me and give you the recipe if you think your hair is a good candidate. If you don't know what the heck I'm talking about and think I use poo in my hair (I don't) then check out my first post about no poo.

Be kind and confident + Strength in Numbers Tag!

Be kind and confident
Hey everyone!
Recently I watched old Bethany Mota videos about bullying and they taught me even more than that. Bethany talked about how you should react if your bullied; don't fight back, be kind. And it really made me think about how I do fight back, and how I let my frustration take over. So I thought I would share her videos to help you in more than 1 way, as well as talk about it a bit myself.

Filterless Photos

Hey everyone!
I am writing this post because a. I don't know what else to do, b. I think its great to think about this more and c. I try to set it in stone here (doesn't work too often). So what am I talking about? Using Instagram filters of course..

While scrolling through YouTube seeing what video to watch next I came across a video called Filters by The Halfway Point (a blogger I love!), it was a spoken word poem about social media and living in real life, you have to check it out. It really reminded me of the spoken word poem called Look Up, which I had to look at again.

Now I know this is not what they suggested but it's a small step in the right direction, when I post photos to Instagram I'm not going to edit it (other than crop) to make it look better, I'm going to leave it as is.

When people post photos on Instagram, they chose the best parts to photograph so already its not real, then they add filters to make it look 'better' but what they actually do is make it look less real.

Unlike other challenges I have tried, I don't actually have to do anything. Like seriously it's easier and quicker to post photos now I don't edit them, I have actually been posting more frequently too and it doesn't even feel like it!

So I challenge you to post unedited photos to see how much easier it is. It's actually kind of freeing, even though I hardly edited my photos before!

Have a good day and don't forget to check out my Instagram @it'sRubyDean :D
